Celebrating 9 Years Of PiercingMetal.com :)

logo_piercingmetal

Hey there my readers and those who just are chancing by and enjoying the offerings of this little website of mine. As you’ve seen me do in the past, every now and again I like to share what I am doing on the PiercingMetal website. Well it’s time for me to once again take a moment of your time to let you know that my music and photography site, PiercingMetal.com, has reached another birthday. Today is the ninth anniversary of that website and I am pretty amazed at how much its grown since I decided to launch it. For the newbie’s who don’t know much about it, I do reviews over there of Heavy Metal music, videos, concerts and books. There’s an occasional interview but not too many these days and I even have a side blog to it that I call “PiercingMetal Musings”. The blog is done in WordPress like “The Chronicles” but the main website is still being done in traditional HTML.

When this time of year rolls around, I like to toss some thoughts together about it all and the process involved. If any milestones were achieved across the year I like to talk about that as well. The interested reader can click HERE for that summary over on the PiercingMetal website. Also, I think this might be a good time to tell you that I have been testing a WordPress installation in a secure folder for the content of the main site. While I might be using that software for this site and the side blog for PM, the overall layout will need to be a little more focused and professional. So far so good but I am not yet ready to make that switch. I hope you come over to that website and click around for awhile because between the proper site and the side blog there is a little bit of everything for you to enjoy. Also, PiercingMetal utilizes all of the main Social Networks of the day so please give a “like” or “follow” to the official accounts that are linked below. If the adventures over there are of interest to you I’d sure love to have you engaging with me as I undertake more and more. I’ll see you soon back on this site with my next interesting adventure around the metropolis.

Hitting The 2nd Annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo (3/30/2014)

The other day I attended the 2nd Annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo that was being held at the Penn Plaza Pavilion and it was a spicy good time. Thanks to the invite by High River Sauces, I was able to peruse the offerings and bring you the best scoop possible. I would be joined by my friend Skeleton Pete and while it might have been nice to run some photos here, the full on coverage is on my PiercingMetal Blog since there are some Metal celebrity involved.

I’ve disabled the means for comments on this post since we are using it as a traffic sign to the full on piece. Please do check it out and let us know what you think. Especially if you attended as I love hearing other peoples opinion on a time such as this. I’ll close by thanking Steve Seabury of High River Sauces once again for the invite. You rule brother.

The HEAT Is On In NYC!!!! Yep, because today and tomorrow the 2nd Annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo is taking place at the Penn Plaza Pavilion. Poster - Hot Sauce Expo - 2014

As I cited in the first broadcast about this event, this time around it has moved into Manhattan as opposed to being in Brooklyn and instead of being outdoors will lay down its incendiary justice at the Penn Plaza Pavilion. It remains at two days which is good for the masses and I will be attending on the second day so do say hello if you attend and see me wandering around with my camera. There are a lot of things to enjoy for attendees and if you can still swing the special VIP package, let me tell you that its just a wee bit better an experience. In my earlier post I also suggested that you didn’t explore too many hot sauces on an empty stomach and perhaps keep a small bag of Saltines or Ritz minis in your bag. Not every vendor has stuff to put the hot sauce on which I observed the last time and during my adventure I was on fire. They still tasted great but I was on fire and well, I figured it my duty to advise you a little bit. Click the Official Website link below to get your tickets while they are still available and give a “Like” to their Facebook Page so you can keep up on the adventures in their Social Networking as it happens. I hope to see a few of you there.

Below you will find some of the hot sauces from the event organizers brand along with a fun-filled Metal themed cookbook that will test your taste buds level of heavy.

Spring Has Sprung In NYC :)

Today is the first day of Spring and after the amount of snow that we received here in NYC I say “Welcome”. I hope all of you are preparing for some good times with the important people in your day.

My Business Card Evolution :)

editorial, editorial logo

Back in September of 2013, I mentioned in a blog posting how I had hit a bit of a personal milestone and was now officially a ten year deep music journalist and photographer whose been pursuing this creative passion on a semi-professional basis. I reflected upon that day HERE for those that might need to catch up with the rest of us on the events and now that its past I am aiming the sights higher on both this and my PiercingMetal.com website and will keep these kinds of stories happening whenever possible. On that note it was just this past December that I realized I was super low on my business cards and that it was high time to get to ordering some new ones because they would be needed for the tasks to come in the new year. This is especially the case for conventions like February’s Toy Fair, the NY Comic Con in addition to all of the shows that I attend. As I scoured my creative command center for any additional cards that I had lying around to get me past the limited number I had left, I discovered some cards from long ago that I felt would be fun to share in a blog posting/reflection. Let’s begin with this visual of a full box of brand new cards from Vistaprint who I have been using for my cards for the past ten or so years.
