Artist: Disco Biscuits Title: “Rapture” Live (Single) Label: Disco Biscuits Release Date: 12/27/2019 Genre: Trance Fusion/Electronic Rating: 3.75/5
Truth be told, I’ve never really listened to much from the Electronic, Trance/Fusion Jam band known as the Disco Biscuits but when the news came that they had covered a classic by Blondie with “Rapture”, I decided to give a listen and share my thoughts with the readership. The track comes care of the group’s own label imprint and was recorded live at Red Rocks and remixed by the Party Pupils. The lineup for the track stands at Jon Gutwillig, Marc Brownstein, Allen Aucoin and Aron Magner. Continue reading “Rapture” Live (Single) by Disco Biscuits→
Artist: Lena Hall Title: “Fell In Love With A Girl” (Single) Label: Ghostlight Records Release Date: 6/29/2018 Genre: Rock Rating: 4/5
Since the next musical “chapter” in her “Obsessed” series is due any day now, it wasn’t a surprise to find singer Lena Hall serving up a single from the release. The song is “Fell In Love With A Girl” and is a part of the “Obsessed: Jack White” EP. Speaking frankly, I never really followed Jack or his band The White Stripes despite knowing that he’s a talented musician. That said I am here to speak about Lena’s take on this signature track. As we’ve noted before, Lena has been stripping these down to basics and its been working so far so I expected “Fell In Love With A Girl” to sound pretty solid and it does. Artist: Lena Hall Title: “Obsessed: Radiohead” Label: Ghostlight Records Release Date: 6/1/2018 Genre: Rock Rating:
I’m continuing my examination of the series of cover EP’s by Tony Award winning musician Lena Hall with her latest offering of “Obsessed: Radiohead”, an album that finds the sonic vocalist offering up homage to the legendary Alternative Rock band by giving us her take on a handful of their numbers. My own relationship with the band Radiohead came very early in the bands debut as a newly signed band to a label I knew some people at way back when and upon inquiring what this one was all about, I was told “we think the song CREEP will be a big hit”. It was of course, and the band went on to their own levels of stratospheric popularity. Sorry, I just had to add that one into the mix but back to the latest tunes from Miss Hall. Artist: “Nude” (Single) Title: Lena Hall Label: Ghostlight Records Release Date: 6/1/2018 Genre: Rock Rating:
I’ve been keeping as good a pace with singer Lena Hall as she continues to deliver EP’s under her “Obsessed” series and if you haven’t seen our thoughts on what’s come before you can just click HERE to be brought up to speed. “Nude” is the first single of Hall’s latest “Obsession” which focuses on the band Radiohead and while I plan on doing a longer overview when its released, felt it would be fun to do some Single Reviews here on “The Chronicles” as well. As a music fan I was only listening to Radiohead up until the “OK Computer” album so by the time they released “In Rainbows” where this song comes from, I was long gone. According to my research, it was the bands second single from this release and a very big hit. Continue reading “Nude” (Single) by Lena Hall→
Artist: Lena Hall Title: “Obsessed: Peter Gabriel” Label: Ghostlight Records Release Date: 2/2/2018 Genre: Rock Rating: 4.5/5
Last month offered up an overview of a brand-new musical EP series by Tony Award winning singer Lena Hall with her “Obsessed: Hedwig and the Angry Inch”. It was the first in her series of “Obsessed” released which pretty much amount to artists or material that she herself is obsessed with. I loved the idea and as a fan of Hall’s for a number of years was glad to support this effort. Folks who missed that summary can click HERE to check it out. While I was relatively new to those songs, her latest EP focuses on the legendary Peter Gabriel, an artist that I am much more familiar with so let’s discuss “Obsessed: Peter Gabriel”.
