Since the next musical “chapter” in her “Obsessed” series is due any day now, it wasn’t a surprise to find singer Lena Hall serving up a single from the release. The song is “Fell In Love With A Girl” and is a part of the “Obsessed: Jack White” EP. Speaking frankly, I never really followed Jack or his band The White Stripes despite knowing that he’s a talented musician. That said I am here to speak about Lena’s take on this signature track. As we’ve noted before, Lena has been stripping these down to basics and its been working so far so I expected “Fell In Love With A Girl” to sound pretty solid and it does.

I thought hearing this one on an acoustic guitar with a clapping effect in the background was an interesting thing to offer up. The drums are kept quite simple and to the point as well and if my hearing is correct he’s even using brushes. Hall doesn’t lose a second of pace with the lyric laden tune but knowing her commendable skills this was not a surprise. This song has a lot of verses and they go by quickly but she delivers the goods. Her YouTube channel lines out some videos on most of the clips and she clearly had an “obsession” with Jack White and that is why his music is the focus of the next EP.
