Happy St. Paddy’s Day 2013

Since it’s once again time for the “wearin’ o’ the green” I wanted to wish all of our readers a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day and share a couple of images with them as well.   All of the stuff you see was captured on wanderings around our fair metropolis shortly before the actual St. Pat’s Day.

Voila! The Exploding Omelet….

It had been awhile since I did anything for this category on the PiercingKen blog, so I decided there was no time like the present. I had been rocking at three consecutive nights of Metal shows and awoke ravenous not too long before this posting and decided to do a little something different from making an omelet.

This time around I took a couple of eggs, a giant mushroom and a few slices of pepperoni since I just love the stuff and rather than slowly and carefully prep each piece and assemble them as I went along, I opted to toss it all in the pan together and cook it up. The end result looked like the aforementioned omelet had exploded. Tada.

Of course since I also have a great appreciation for cheese a single slice of American was added along with a healthy dose of hot sauce and the pictured wheat toast. This took five minutes to do. Give it a try sometime. Bon appetit.

Beware Of The Secret Fare NYC

This is a Piercing Ken PSA

By now, all the card carrying New Yorkers know about the MTA subway fare increase and as expected we are all rather upset about it because services remain lackluster while ridership seems to be up more and more each day but it is what it is. The reason I’m posting something is because the other day when I went to refill/replace my card, I saw the sign posting below as I began my transaction. Yep. If you want a new card you will be charged an additional $1 so you might want to hold onto a couple of your depleted ones so you can just refill them and not face the additional charge. I guess someone finally decided that all the tens of thousands of plastic cards that are laying around in the stations and in the streets are unnecessary litter.

Whatever Happened To Steppenwolf?

He’s apparently opened up a Production Company in NYC. Go figure.

Oh yes, so before you all ask, I totally am aware that this is not related to the legacy Heavy Rock band with the same name nor the insidious associate of DC Comics super-villain Darkseid. Figured I could avoid numerous comments about it by coming clean early on.

The Art Of Kennedy Yanko (3/6/2013)

One of the main reasons that I love NYC so much is that even after you have finished your original nights plan and are heading home, you can be side-tracked into a totally different and unexpected adventure that is also very interesting. Such was the case when I was finished watching the Finnish singer Anni perform at the Mercury Lounge. After I did my whole music scribe pleasantries and started walking up Houston Street on my way home I noticed a place called the White Rabbit which was both a gallery space and a bar. Tonight there was a showing of the art of one Kennedy Yanko so I stuck my head inside and decided to snap a bunch of photos of her art and share them with you here.
