Happy 125th Birthday To Lady Liberty

Huzzah, kudos and congratulations to The Statue Of Liberty who today is one-hundred twenty five years of age.   Yep, it was that long ago when the massive statue was dedicated to the United States from France and it has been both inspiring and a constant point of interest in the tourists minds. I have to admit that I kind of like to see it up close myself. The photo below is by no means the real deal statue but instead appears to be a giant desk decoration that I happened upon while wandering our fair Metropolis. Since I did not have any recent photos of the statue or scans of older photography, I opted to snap this one quick to be able to properly offer up some well wishes.

I realize that 125 years is a great milestone and that means some special events and speeches will be par for the course for the great statue. It makes me all the more excited for when she hits 150 years. Don’t worry, as before that day comes I will try to get some more recent images for blogging purposes and for your enjoyment. Happy Birthday once again Lady Liberty.

PiercingMetal Goes To Toy Fair 2011

This past week in NYC was the 108th Annual Toy Fair and as with many events of its scope would be held over at the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan’s West Side.  You might recall that PiercingMetal.com was on point at this very location for the NY Comic Con back in the last 1/4 of 2010, and if not, we suggest you hit this LINK to enjoy all of our narratives about the event.

Toy Fair 2011 would be no less the daunting effort and while I am still coming to grips with my some of my own coverage, you can see the chapters that are currently online by clicking the Toy Fair logo above.  I attended this incredible event with my comrade in arms Skeleton Pete who was a busy little bee as well.  He even wrote up a few narratives that can be enjoyed over on his own website SkeletonPete.com – Click the image below to be taken to them.  This was an amazing convention and an experience that I will never forget.

“All You Need Is MP3’s” The Beatles Are Now On ITunes :)

Back in 2009 I did a little blog post on my PiercingMetal Musings announcing that the entire catalog of The Beatles was being remastered and released in both Stereo and Mono box sets. Fans that only wanted a few select albums would have the chance to snare those as well and you can refresh your memory HERE if you like.

Well now the big news is that this same catalog is finally available on iTunes and it really was not as timely as people had expected. Its been out on physical CD in the new version for over a year but there was some issues in getting the proper okays to do it in the digital manner. That made me decide to add the new news to the side blog since I was walking down 14th Street and saw that massive billboard on top of the Apple Store for all the world to see. Personally speaking, I prefer The Beatles catalog on CD and not MP3 but that is probably because I no longer have a digital music player.

PiercingMetal HQ to remain in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

While not entirely related to my PiercingMetal role as much as the mechanics of operation of the thing, I thought you might find these recent events of interest in some fashion. Since the website launch back in early 2005, the fortified walls of PiercingMetal Headquarters have stood in beautiful Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  We’ve found it to be a great place to get the business of Metal accomplished but that doesn’t mean we don’t wonder every once in awhile what a different locale would be like for our work.

“The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken” Is Now In WordPress

website logos, piercing ken, piercing ken logo

It was only just over two weeks ago that I announced the debut of a brand-new blog that I would be launching called “The Chronicles Of Piercing Ken”. If you didn’t see that post, just click HERE to be more up to speed with the news. This new blog was being delivered to the interested using Google’s Blogger software.

Today I am here to share the news that a proper dotcom domain name has been secured with “PiercingKen.com” and WordPress is now installed under this domain so no more using Blogger for the posts. I spent most of yesterday integrating the few weeks of old posts into the new WordPress software and from here on everything that you will be reading will be in WordPress. For the interim I have a “We Have Moved” sign posted as the final post on the Blogger account but in time that entire presence might be deleted to avoid any confusion. The writer in me wants all the traffic to come to the correct location and stay here and I’ve gotten pretty adept at WordPress since I’ve been using it on the PiercingMetal Blog as well for a couple of years. The blog has a few dozen subscribers so I want them to find the new place easy enough.

I’m also using Social Media for this. I’ve placed a link to my Twitter below so you can follow along with whatever I am getting up to over here. You might laugh at the notion that I have not used that Twitter account since some time in late 2009 so it will be nice to finally have a reason to tweet about things we are doing on the site. Perhaps I will employ the other social networks that are available to keep people in the loop a bit better. Anything that helps to generate site traffic and attention is good in my book. Okay that is all I have to share with you. Let’s make this something fun together.
