Not long after I posted about the pause of the “Girl From The North Country” here on “The Chronicles”, comes the news that Aaron Sorkin’s “To Kill A Mockingbird” will be doing the same. About “To Kill a Mockingbird”: This play debuted in 2018 and is an adaptation for the stage of Harper Lee’s novel of 1960 by Aaron Sorkin it is currently running at the Shubert Theatre. The show follows the story of Atticus Finch, a lawyer in 1930s Alabama, as he defends Tom Robinson, a black man falsely accused of rape (this last sentence was sourced from the play’s Wiki).

Piercing Ken Thoughts: Based on some of the work I’ve been involved in lately I was able to witness Jeff Daniels in the role of Atticus Finch 3x and it was fantastic. I’ve interest in seeing Mr. Kinnear do this but with the limited shows before their own pause this is not likely going to be happening until it returns. The curiosity for me is the move to The Belasco Theatre which has a 500 person less capacity. Since “Girl From The North Country” returns in the Spring and “To Kill A Mockingbird” at the beginning of June, one has to figure that one show will be ending its run or going on a national tour. Whatever the case may be, its for sure the truth that Broadway has been taking a hit from the surge in virus cases. If you love Broadway and want to try to catch these shows before they pause I say get thee online ASAP so you can do it.
