Recently, “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” was on point as attending press for the annual BroadwayCon, which had returned to the winter months and while originally schedule for the New York Hilton Midtown, would instead be happening at the New York Marriott Marquis right smack dab in Times Square. I’ve been attending this one since 2018 and always have managed to have a good time.
The conventions co-founder, Melissa Anelli, leads the teams of Mischief Management and came out first as a part of the opening ceremony. We sadly learned from her that their usual host Ben Cameron would not be participating in the show which was a bit of a bummer since Ben is so fun and very engaging with the fans across all three days.
Hey friends, I’m back again this morning to continue to share the findings from the recently held “Travel & Adventure Show” that took over a section of the Javits Center. As I mentioned, the New York Boat Show and the AKC Meet The Breeds were all happening at the same time and I had press badges for all three of them. It’s a lot more work but honestly can be easy to do if you moderate your time effectively. So this time around I snapped more of the pavilions than the patrons. I didn’t want random strangers seeing their photos presented and sending me privacy violations notices.
The Javits Center was a busy place recently with the AKC “Meet The Breeds” taking over the downstairs section while the New York Boat Show was up top on the right side of the expo floor and last but certainly not least – The Travel & Adventure Show had returned for their fourth annual happening. My last time taking a look around this one was in 2023 but that was as a guest of an exhibitor I knew. This time around I was hoping to do the exploring with a more professional vibe.
Generally speaking, I set up my own accesses to these events well in advance but this time around I was so consumed with life in general and being media for the other two happenings that I wasn’t sure I would even be able to set aside some exploring time, but when I had a breather I walked over to the press office to express interest in a brief walkthrough.
Greetings Friends and welcome back to another adventure. So at the time that you are reading this, if you opened up our website with the morning coffee that is, there are three events happening over at the Javits Center today. The New York Boat Show, The Travel & Adventure Show and AKC Meet The Breeds are all taking place concurrently and bringing their respective audiences into the mix.
While “The Chronicles” had been set up as attending media for the Boat Show and the “Meet The Breeds”, we were unable to get the credentials to explore the travel event and that was fine since those two shows were keeping me busy enough. However, a marketing associate I’ve known for years was working with the Japanese pavilion and had a guest pass for me to briefly explore and so I’m sharing a very limited batch of visuals. For me, content is king here on “The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken so I don’t mind putting stuff up. The funny thing was that my associate was too busy to even be in these few shots.
Back in 2020, the sun was set on the long-standing travel show known as The New York Times Travel Show and we had attended a few times for the website before it ended. It was without question that there was a void left in those who manage to travel and now just like a phoenix a brand-new show was debuting with the New York International Travel Show. According to press releases, this show serves as the successor to the previous one.
I was fortunate to arrive just in time for the ribbon cutting on the new show and that was cool. A video was secured as well which you can enjoy once the photo rundown completes.
Now it was time to explore.
My first exploration was going to be the New York section. It’s a far bigger place than you realize after all and I’d sure love to see more of it when time and financials permit.
They had a helicopter from FLYNYON on display. The rotors were not on the top which I guess was for safety concerns. I’ve only ever been in a helicopter once and that was a quick ride in Myrtle Beach. I liked it but I am not sure I would do that again. Maybe for a video which I didn’t do that first time around.
Like many trade shows, in addition to the conventional fare there were other vendors present. You can see their names and look them up later if what’s presented in the photo interests you at all.
We met the founder of an app called NAVI SAVI in Sally Bunnell. To make sure all of you know the scoop on this product a short video was recorded with her. That too can be seen at the close. Be patient, you’ll be there soon enough.
The folks at MSC Cruises had a massive table of awesome giveaways. There were hats, sundry items for travel and bags.
In all my years as a New York resident, I do not recall ever owning an “I Love NY” button. Until today that is.

So there you have it. A little shorter than I usually like to do but I had a hectic schedule coming up so I could only come on this one day. This Channel is only now two years old despite the website being more than ten years its senior so its super important for those hitting the website articles up to come and help that YouTube Channel grow. I’m going to try and use it a lot more when it comes to the trade shows. So overall I had a good time at this show and felt that I engaged a little more with the exhibitors than I managed to do at the other show I attended earlier in the year. That was more based on timing than anything else since the show was set up as meetings on the first day and expo on the other days. I had to work on the other days so couldn’t absorb much but I digress. If you are someone that travels a lot or hopes to, these are worth attending. They aren’t too pricy and there are lots of deals to be found.
