NHL To Suspend Season Until Further Notice Amid Covid-19 Coronavirus Concerns

National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman on Thursday released the following statement regarding the 2019-20 NHL season:

“In light of ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus, and after consulting with medical experts and convening a conference call of the Board of Governors, the National Hockey League is announcing today that it will pause the 2019 20 season beginning with tonight’s games.

“The NHL has been attempting to follow the mandates of health experts and local authorities, while preparing for any possible developments without taking premature or unnecessary measures. However, following last night’s news that an NBA player has tested positive for coronavirus — and given that our leagues share so many facilities and locker rooms and it now seems likely that some member of the NHL community would test positive at some point — it is no longer appropriate to try to continue to play games at this time.

Broadway Theatres To Suspend Performances Through April 12, 2020

Under the direction of Governor Andrew Cuomo, Broadway shows in New York City will suspend all performances immediately in support of the health and well-being of the theatregoing public, as well as those who work in the theatre industry. Performances will commence the week of April 13, 2020.

“Our top priority has been and will continue to be the health and well-being of Broadway theatregoers and the thousands of people who work in the theatre industry every day, including actors, musicians, stagehands, ushers, and many other dedicated professionals,” said Charlotte St. Martin, President of the Broadway League. “Broadway has the power to inspire, enrich and entertain, and together we are committed to making that vital spirit a reality. Once our stages are lit again, we will welcome fans back with open arms so that they can continue to experience the joy, heart, and goodwill that our shows so passionately express every night.”

NBA To Suspend Season Until Further Notice Amid Covid-19 Coronavirus Concerns

The Press Release:
The NBA announced that a player on the Utah Jazz has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. The test result was reported shortly prior to the tip-off of Wednesday’s game between the Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena. At that time, Wednesday’s game was canceled. The affected player was not in the arena.

The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of Wednesday’s schedule of games until further notice. The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.

Breaking: Organizers Announce Rescheduling of 2020 New York International Auto Show

As a result of the ongoing health concerns from the spread of the coronavirus in the region, the New York International Auto Show has been rescheduled to August 28 – September 6, 2020. Press days are August 26 & 27, 2020.

“We are taking this extraordinary step to help protect our attendees, exhibitors and all participants from the coronavirus,” said Mark Schienberg, president of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, the organization that owns and operates the New York Auto Show.

“For 120 years, ‘the show must go on’ has been heavily embedded in our DNA, and while the decision to move the show dates didn’t come easy, our top priority remains with the health and well-being of all those involved in this historic event. We have already been in communication with many of our exhibitors and partners and are confident that the new dates for the 2020 Show will make for another successful event,” Schienberg added.

The Architectural Digest Design Show Has Been Postponed Until June

Concerns about the coronavirus have been growing by the day and with this come the cancellation and postponement of many big scheduled events in the interest of public safety. Earlier today, I reported on my PiercingMetal website about the cancellation of both the Emerald City Comic Con and the SXSW Festival and now comes new about the upcoming Architectural Digest Design Show. After careful consideration, the Architectural Digest Design Show, originally scheduled March 19-22, 2020, has been POSTPONED to June 25-28, 2020. Growing concerns over the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak have prompted the rescheduling by the Show Management, Condé Nast, and many of its operating partners. Our top priority is the health and safety of our exhibitors, attendees, volunteers, and staff. We will provide ongoing updates as necessary.
