As previously reported right here on the Piercing Ken website, I once again had the honor of attending one of the awesome events that was being held by the folks over at The Toy Insider. This one was called the “Spring Fling” Toy Preview and it brought together a few dozen toy companies along with industry insiders, influencers and folks in the press like ourselves.
The event was held at Lavan Midtown and I apologize if any of this is already things that you know. I just am making sure that any new visitors are not lost if they find this post first 🙂 Usually, the Toy Insider events close with the attendees getting a goodie bag or a big box of stuff being sent to them at home but this time around it was not the case. We got cool tote bags with the “Spring Fling” branding but they were empty. Anything we left the event with was at the discretion of those who were exhibiting. The image below shows our tote packed to the brim and in this narrative I will share the goodies that I had as takeaways. It’s a slightly different take on the whole unboxing but will work just the same. Let’s go.

This is a Deddy Bear. In a word they are absolutely awesome and there are “8” different ones to collect. As you can see by the photo, they have an attachment that let’s you hang them on your knapsack or schoolbags. I see a lot of the kids doing that today but this creepy Skeleton bear is mine… Sorry, not sorry ;p Let’s continue along.
This is an Alphablock One from Learning Resources. He was super cute and soft and I read they are designed for hugging at bedtime. Though its been decades since I’ve had a stuffed animal along with me for crash time, I do fondly remember my original teddy bear and this cute Alphablock One might make someone’s dreams more special.
This cute plushie shark is one of the NightBuddies from Cortex Toys. When you squeeze it there are parts that light up. I believe they are there to help ease ones adjusting to the darkness of the room. Hey I think all of us were afraid of the dark at some point in our childhood.
I don’t know how many of you have seen the Just Play Products “Doorables” stuff but these are assorted Disney characters and they just look awesome. They are very small, a little over an inch each so you can collect a lot and store them in a relatively small container.
In this blind bag is one of the Sandoichis. It’s a pet meets food item mashup and is also plushie. I did an interview with this exhibitor at a different event not too long ago and the video is on our Channel so do please check it out.
Sunny Days Entertainment has a number of awesome releases but one of the most charming is their “Honey Bee Acres” stuff. Assorted characters and playsets that will keep the younger ones busy for quite some time. Since there are so many characters and accessories you can build quite a collection up from this license.
This cool hat is from the folks at PMI who are involved with creating the “Stumble Guys”. The smaller hat is a blind box with a character in it. I loved the hat but might give it to a friends little one instead of keeping it. If the hat was black then that would be another story.
Here’s a bunch of Stumble Guy figurines. They have several points of articulation and are super quirky. I like that there are a number of different ones since that expands the level of play. Each of these would come in a blind bag but the rep gave me a few that had been opened on the table.
Our friends at Crayola had this awesome new Super Chalk. They had nice bright colors to them and sound like something fun to mark your driveway or the backyard concrete with providing your parents say you can do that. This is one hopscotch court on the sidewalk that will be easier to see.
This is a batch of Decora Girlz stickers. They had a little figure as well but we didn’t get one of those as the exploring continued.
This photo should have come earlier but I mislabeled them. This is the blind bag for those Stumble Guys figurines that you saw earlier. My apologies.
This super cute giraffe is part of the Basic Fun collection called “Littlest Pet Shop”.
Our friends at Play Monster had some cool “Jurassic World” blind eggs. A variation on the blind packaging but inside these eggs is some gooey stuff and a surprise dinosaur.
Our friends at VTech didn’t have anything to takeaway based on their sizes of the products but they did have these awesome notebooks. I was asked to take several and by the time that you read this can say that they have all been given away.
I’ll wrap up this non-unboxing unboxing with a glimpse of the Official Badge for the Spring Fling. As I’ve mentioned I am associated with the team based on all of my PiercingMetal efforts but do end up posting a lot here on “The Chronicles” based on the skew of ages and slightly broader brush I have here. I am always on double-duty at Toy Insider happenings as you can and have seen.
Since there is no proper Toy Fair this year, this was definitely a great idea from the Toy Insider and all of the exhibiting companies that chose to participate. As you know, we are usually in attendance at their annual “Sweet Suite” and “Holiday Of Play” events and if the invite gets extended we shall be on point with both sites blazing for action. If these special events are new news to your ears you can check out past overviews by clicking the hyperlinked text of Toy Insider as that will bring up a new browser tab with all of my coverage from their events. I’d also love it if you can help “The Chronicles” along over on social media. We have an Official Linktree and our most important networks to grow are the YouTube, the Instagram and the Official Facebook. These are let us entertain you a lot easier while you wait for site posts to be generated. Thanks again to the team at the Toy Insider for another great happening. I look forward to seeing you all again.
