PiercingMetal Goes To Toy Fair 2011

This past week in NYC was the 108th Annual Toy Fair and as with many events of its scope would be held over at the Jacob Javits Center on Manhattan’s West Side.  You might recall that PiercingMetal.com was on point at this very location for the NY Comic Con back in the last 1/4 of 2010, and if not, we suggest you hit this LINK to enjoy all of our narratives about the event.

Toy Fair 2011 would be no less the daunting effort and while I am still coming to grips with my some of my own coverage, you can see the chapters that are currently online by clicking the Toy Fair logo above.  I attended this incredible event with my comrade in arms Skeleton Pete who was a busy little bee as well.  He even wrote up a few narratives that can be enjoyed over on his own website SkeletonPete.com – Click the image below to be taken to them.  This was an amazing convention and an experience that I will never forget.

“All You Need Is MP3’s” The Beatles Are Now On ITunes :)

band logos, the beatles, the beatles logo

Back in 2009 I did a little blog post on my PiercingMetal Musings announcing that the entire catalog of The Beatles was being remastered and released in both Stereo and Mono box sets. Fans that only wanted a few select albums would have the chance to snare those as well and you can refresh your memory HERE if you like.

Well now the big news is that this same catalog is finally available on iTunes and it really was not as timely as people had expected. Its been out on physical CD in the new version for over a year but there was some issues in getting the proper okays to do it in the digital manner. That made me decide to add the new news to the side blog since I was walking down 14th Street and saw that massive billboard on top of the Apple Store for all the world to see. Personally speaking, I prefer The Beatles catalog on CD and not MP3 but that is probably because I no longer have a digital music player.

PiercingMetal HQ to remain in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

While not entirely related to my PiercingMetal role as much as the mechanics of operation of the thing, I thought you might find these recent events of interest in some fashion. Since the website launch back in early 2005, the fortified walls of PiercingMetal Headquarters have stood in beautiful Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  We’ve found it to be a great place to get the business of Metal accomplished but that doesn’t mean we don’t wonder every once in awhile what a different locale would be like for our work.

Welcome To The Chronicles Of PiercingKen!

Hi there, glad you stopped by 🙂 So what is this “Chronicles Of PiercingKen” that you are looking at you might be asking, well let me try and explain it as best as I can.

To those who know me, I am going to ask you to sit tight for a moment so I can give a brief introduction to those who might not and have found this blog while randomly surfing around the Internet. My name is Ken Pierce and for the past six or so years I’ve been a music journalist who adventures out into the Metal night and offers up findings on my PiercingMetal.com website. It’s a blast and a half presenting what I experience to a wider audience than just my circle of friends and since its own launch in 2005 has greatly changed from what I originally thought it would be. I do hope you will click the link and examine it if Hard Rock and Metal music are up your alley. Now back to the program already in progress 🙂

Long before I was doing any journalist stuff, I always considered myself a little bit of an amateur photographer and I would constantly be snapping away at things that I saw in my travels. This meant that I had a lot of photos that fell outside of my music pursuit to show people and I needed a place to do so. It seems as though the days of flipping through a photo album were over thanks to the Internet and social networking sites like MySpace and the now dominating Facebook and many people were using these mediums to share with their friends. Honestly, this was not for me, and I decided to launch a new blog and post those treats for you in it. The name comes from what a couple of my publicity people call me, and I felt it worked even though I have nothing to do with piercings. It’s in name alone I am afraid.

What’s The Premise Of PiercingKen?: I really don’t have a particular “mission statement” yet, but after looking through my recent and older folders of photos I can tell you to expect museum stuff, travel and touristy stuff, New York City visuals, Art, Fashion and Food as they come up in my day and maybe even the occasional music piece that is worth talking about but would not fit on PiercingMetal. I just might even scan some old photos that I like and share them here as well. It’s a very open playing field that I am establishing. I’m going to let this be a little bit of a catch-all that brings you into my day a bit more. Sometimes I might be profound and at others rather absurd. Let’s see what happens. Enjoy the ride.
