The Toy Association Postpones Toy Fair Dallas Until 2022

The Press Release:
In response to challenges posed by the Delta variant of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Toy Association has announced the official postponement of Toy Fair Dallas, which was planned to take place October 5 to 7. It is anticipated new dates in 2022 will be secured at the Dallas Market Center.

“While our exhibitors and hundreds of retail buyers were looking forward to coming back together in person this fall, the health and safety of the greater toy community remains The Toy Association’s number one priority,” said Steve Pasierb, president & CEO of The Toy Association. “In the interim, we remain committed to the ‘possible’ and continue to focus our efforts on providing retail buyers and toymakers with effective ways to connect and do business.”

2021 Toy Of The Year Winners Are Announced

The TOTY Award Winners were recently announced in a first-ever virtual ceremony with the in-person event being impossible to hold due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. After a brief commentary by Toy Association President Steve Pasierb, the nominations were replayed and the winners announced. For ease of seeing who was up for what and who would eventually win the coveted award, I’ve left the original full list of nominations for your perusal. The Toy Association Cancels Interim Toy Fair and Looks To 2022 Trade Show

As COVID-19 remains insufficiently resolved, The Toy Association has announced that it will not conduct an interim trade show in New York for 2021, which was previously planned to take place May 1 to 4. Plans for Toy Fair Dallas remain on course for October 2021 and providing an ongoing mix of physical and digital business opportunities for the industry will be the Association’s focus this year.

“Our foremost consideration is the health and well-being of the global toy and play community and setting a clear path forward,” said Steve Pasierb, president & CEO of The Toy Association. “We want to provide our exhibitors, retail buyers, and the larger toy and play community with certainty on important destination shows and the ability to take advantage of immediate opportunities through our year-round buying and selling platform.”

2021 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Award Finalists Unveiled

From educational toys that make at-home learning fun, to creative crafts, board games, and innovative toys the whole family can enjoy together, the 2021 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Award finalists announced today by The Toy Association are sure to top wish lists this holiday season. Known as the “Oscars” of the toy industry, the TOTY Awards program recognizes the top playthings on the market and is a vital fundraiser for The Toy Foundation, which delivers the magic of play to millions of children in vulnerable situations.

The 117 finalists were announced this morning by a group of well-known online influencers. Play lovers can now visit www.ToyAwards.org to vote for their favorite playthings in each of the 16 categories, browse toys, and download shopping lists for the holidays. Voting will close January 5, 2021. Consumers can also head over to @GeniusofPlay on Facebook to enter for a chance to win incredible TOTY prize packages.

CANCELLED: Toy Fair @ Jacob Javits Center

Despite the best laid plans, the Toy Association has decided to cancel the Interim NYC event and look to 2022 for a larger trade show in the city. More details can be found in the press release that was posted on “The Chronicles” HERE. Stay tuned to listings such as this one for the very latest scheduled events and any changes or cancellations to them. As soon as we know updates, we will get them online for the readership.

After postponing the originally scheduled Toy Fair that was set for February of this year, a scaled-down affair will take place in the Javits over these four days. As this is a trade show, it is only industry and select press so you’ll want to follow your favorite toy companies and sites like this one on their social networks of Facebook and Instagram to be brought into the mix.
