The Exploding Omelet: A Variant Kind

Many of my friends know of my absolute appreciation for the comic book medium, and so many of those have variant to their covers when they get released so I felt that it would be a good time to do the same thing with a not too long ago posted recipe. I recently tossed together “the Exploding Omelet” as my title and here is the variant to that original theme. I also decided to share some of the preparation steps and visuals with you this time around. Let’s go. This recipe begins with two eggs, a couple of slices of hard salami and pepperoni, jalapeno peppers, a mushroom and a slice of American cheese.

Beware The Power Of The Food Side…..

I realize I am being silly with that one, but I had a super late night after a Rock and Roll show last Friday and as I was walking up Times Square to the train there it was in bright, tractor beam level brightness……The McDonald’s sign!!!!! For a hot second it found me frozen in my tracks.

Was I hungry? Or was I more tired than is good for me? Did I need any shots for my Foodspotting account? Since I was not too sure, I decided to pull myself away from its maw and myriad of guilty pleasures and head down into the mire of the NYC Transit system. If I was lucky I would be back home in about two hours. Yeah, it was that late and Bay Ridge is like the moon at that hour. Sigh.

Voila! The Exploding Omelet….

It had been awhile since I did anything for this category on the PiercingKen blog, so I decided there was no time like the present. I had been rocking at three consecutive nights of Metal shows and awoke ravenous not too long before this posting and decided to do a little something different from making an omelet.

This time around I took a couple of eggs, a giant mushroom and a few slices of pepperoni since I just love the stuff and rather than slowly and carefully prep each piece and assemble them as I went along, I opted to toss it all in the pan together and cook it up. The end result looked like the aforementioned omelet had exploded. Tada.

Of course since I also have a great appreciation for cheese a single slice of American was added along with a healthy dose of hot sauce and the pictured wheat toast. This took five minutes to do. Give it a try sometime. Bon appetit.

Enjoying “Heavy Metal Mondays” @ Terroir Bar

Yesterday I posted something that I felt was a whole lot of fun over on the PiercingMetal.com site and what it amounted to was a night of Heavy Metal music in a cozy wine bar called Terroir located in the Murray Hill section of NYC (that’s near the Gramercy Theatre kinda sorta). They were calling this event “Heavy Metal Monday” and since it had the “Metal” prominence I felt that I should load the story onto the music related site. I attended this event with my buddy “The Big Cheese” of the Heavy Metal Mayhem online radio show and if you click the graphic below you will be transported to my overview.

Please know that commenting is closed on this post as its more of a traffic sign than anything else. We welcome all views and discussion on the posting that is linked to on PiercingMetal.com; I hope you enjoy this little side adventure that we took.

Pre-Show Eats @ Empanada Mama

I was heading to a Rock meets Classical show with a valued concert going companion and we decided on on Empanada Mama as our choice of pregaming dining experience. I’d been here a few times over the recent years and find the food to be pretty darned good. The proximity to where we had to go was also in its favor so here are some images and taste discussions from Empanada Mama. The place is located on 9th Ave around 51st Street. I started my night off properly with an amazing frozen Strawberry Margarita.
