The Nathan’s Famous “Hot Dog Eating Contest” Champion Chestnut Breaks A Record

Last year, the annual tradition of the hot dog eating content that happens at the Coney Island Nathan’s was held virtually due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. There was an EXTREMELY limited audience of dignitaries and press but for the rest of us it was time to tune into the broadcast on ESPN. Now in 2021, the world is slowly but surely moving towards a better place but instead of being on the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues the event would be held at the nearby MCU Park baseball stadium. There were thousands present but you needed an access to enter since it was in the stadium and like many event spaces you needed to show vaccination proof. I had interest in attending but had only just returned from a family vacation so didn’t look into working this out. The odds were high that Joey Chestnut would once again bring home the Mustard Belt but the women’s champion Miki Sudo would be sitting this one out based on being pregnant.

So we said many expected Chestnut to remain the World Champion but I don’t think anyone saw him breaking a new record as well. This year, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut took home the Mustard Belt by devouring “76” hot dogs. For the women we would find Tuscon, AZ native Michelle Lesco consuming 30.75 of the delicious dogs. Maybe next year I will finally get there in person to shoot photos and document it because I just love this event. Congratulations to both of the champions.

Since I don’t have any “new” images of my experiences at Nathan’s Famous, I am repeating my images from the last time around with this order from the time I attended a concert at the Coney Island Boardwalk Ampitheater. It’s my standard, two dogs and a fries. I sometimes order a cold beer as well but since it was a “work” visit for the PiercingMetal.com website, I figured I would do that later on if I wanted one.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve not visited this place in person since these photos but hey I didn’t do a whole lot during the pandemic and now that life is slowly moving a little more close to normal maybe I will be at a show over this way soon. So far the schedule for that venue isn’t doing much for me. What’s your favorite order from Nathan’s my friends? I am speaking more to the carnivores that read this site more than the vegans. Chime in down below and I will see you next time. Please stay safe out there as we still have a ways to go IMHO.
