For many years The History Channel has brought us back to the world of the Vikings with an exciting series using the same name but that ended with season six at the close of 2020. Now Netflix has picked it up and will premiere “Vikings: Valhalla” in the coming weeks. Below is the Official Teaser along with some premise and casting. The Premise:
Set one hundred years after the events of Vikings, as tensions between the Vikings and the English royals reach a bloody breaking point and as the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and Pagan beliefs. Leif Erikson, Freydís Eiríksdóttir and Harald Hardrada begin an epic journey that will take them across oceans and through battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory. The series shows the end of the Viking Age, marked by Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: So before I say anything else I should let the readership know that I never once watched an episode of the original “Vikings” series. Sure I am interested in the subject matter but I was already filling up my DVR with superhero show after superhero show. I’ll add that I had planned to binge-watch this at the onset of the pandemic but instead opted to get my DVR back into a manageable state. I did that of course but still am very behind on a number of the shows I wanted to examine. With all that being said I didn’t watch the trailer I am featuring just in case it shows some revelations that would come to pass in the original series. What about you readers though?
