We’ve just seen an alert from the LCD Soundsystem Facebook Page regarding their in-progress residency at the Brooklyn Steel venue. Sadly, the final three dates of the residency have been cancelled.

The Statement:
You all have spoken. The last three shows are cancelled. You good people who want to return your tickets and try again another time have spoken, but so has the new info, the hospital capacity, and those of us in the band, crew and venue. We certainly had enough cancellations to make the vote count, but we also, now with all the new info, want to stop for our own sakes. thank you for reaching out about cancelling your tickets. and thank you for getting them in the first place. we’re so sorry to anyone who wanted to come regardless. to the people who made plans—travel or otherwise, or who fought to get these tickets. of course, you’ll get your money back, and, as we said the other day, you will be first in line for tickets next time we play in nyc. but we’re still sorry, regardless. sorry that we can’t play these last 3. sorry that we won’t see your (partial) faces. sorry that we don’t get to play together. we tried. we really did. we were heartened to see so many more masks at the last show. we were incredibly thankful for everyone who wanted to make it work. but it will have to wait, again, until we find out what this new wave means to us all. thank you for again listening, trying, etc. please be safe.

The Cancelled Residency Dates:
December 19 @ Brooklyn Steel
December 20 @ Brooklyn Steel
December 21 @ Brooklyn Steel

LCD Soundsystem Is: James Murphy, Nancy Whang, Pat Mahoney, Tyler Pope, Al Doyle, Korey Richey

Piercing Ken Thoughts: This sure does suck for the fans who had tickets for these shows but hopefully its mostly people who had already seen them on one of the other seventeen dates. This kind of residency always seems to bring a lot of the same people back for repeating nights. Of course the scenario behind this doesn’t surprise me as we recently saw the cancellation of the remaining dates for The Rockettes and that’s a lot of lost money for all involved on top of the disappointed fans. I’ve been working in the COVID Safety world on Broadway and can tell you that this isn’t over by a long shot just yet. Let’s remember that its also flu season and you don’t want to catch either of them. While I’ve been to a couple of big things I am still very wary and precautious in big crowds and I’ve been vaccinated. As the holiday season approaches us I wish you good times and health and safety. We shall get through this if we use common sense. Soapbox rant over, see you next time my friends.
