brit awards, brit awards 2022

Hey my friends I’m back to disclose the winners of the previously discussed Brit Awards that focus on the very best in British Music. I shared the nominations back in December but you won’t need to refer to that posting since I’ve kept all the nominated in the winner’s circle post. Remember that this one is curated by the British Phonographic Industry and has changed some categories for this year’s finalists. They no longer use gendered categories and have brought back some others. Check it out.

Recording Academy and CBS Postpone The 64th Annual Grammy Awards Show

After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show.

The following is a Joint Statement from the Recording Academy and CBS:

“After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show. The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night on a future date, which will be announced soon.”

*** end of statement ***

Piercing Ken Thoughts: To be honest this announcement doesn’t surprise me at all because the surges in cases of the virus have pretty much quadrupled over the last couple of weeks and I am watching (and reporting on) a number of Broadway Theatre closures or hiatuses while many hope to wait this out. The Grammys are an event with too many people ensconced in a large space and while protocols on safety were likely in place after being mapped out, the best place to be for everyone involved is in front of a Zoom conference as opposed to being on top of one another. I know you are very likely tired of this kind of news but that is where we are. I suggest you mask up before you go anyplace and if you find them uncomfortable join the club since I can’t always breathe in the things – I still wear them and especially on the subway which is loaded with folks who choose not too. I am not taking my chances that they will pass something onto be but let me get off the soapbox. If you want to peruse the Nominations list just click HERE. I’d get a cup of coffee for that as its one hell of a list. Stay safe out there I will see you all again soon.

In keeping with the sharing of assorted awards nominations and winners I am continuing my no longer new angle with the Brit Awards, a ceremony focused on the best in British Music. It’s curated by the British Phonographic Industry and to cull some notes from their Wikipedia entry “the BPI announced in November 2021 that the Brit Awards would no longer use gendered categories, and that it would also revive the categories for best Alternative/Rock Act, Dance Act, Hip Hop/Rap/Grime Act, and Pop/R&B Act”. Now with this all being lined out, let’s take a look at this years nominations. Enjoy.

Piercing Ken Thoughts: As you most dedicated in the readership already know, with my being a tried and true Metalhead, the Grammy Awards are really of limited interest to me outside of a few key categories. Though I present the nominations and eventual winners of the awards to you all, I don’t think I’ve watched a broadcast in more than 10 years. So I will briefly as you what your thoughts are on this and if your favorite artists are being considered for an award. If so please do chime in since its always great to have some commentary from you all. It reminds us that you are out there a little bit more. I’ll close up now and say please stay safe out there. We still have quite a road ahead of us and being more mindful of what you are doing is never a bad idea. See you next time.
