Greetings my friends, its time to lend some overview opinion to our friends over at the Toy Insider. By now I am certain that you know about them since we’ve been hitting their events for about six years but based on the COVID-19 Pandemic, their amazing “Sweet Suite” will once again be done in the virtual sense. I’m going to present the same kind of exploration as I did with the 2020 “Sweet Suite” and its companion “Holiday of Play @ Home” so let’s examine the exhibitors that are present today.
The way I did this those past times was screen grab the exhibitor room and then offered up some opinion on it all and now without any further adieu here is the virtual “Main Floor”. This presentation was more fun that I initially expected and it was like being inside a video game.
The TOTY Award Winners were recently announced in a first-ever virtual ceremony with the in-person event being impossible to hold due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. After a brief commentary by Toy Association President Steve Pasierb, the nominations were replayed and the winners announced. For ease of seeing who was up for what and who would eventually win the coveted award, I’ve left the original full list of nominations for your perusal. Now without any further adieu, here are the 2021 TOTY Winners…

Hey friends, when we last brought up Mattel’s “Barbie” it was to celebrate the Elton John edition and that particular item has been flying off the shelves in record numbers. I hope that you got one if you wanted it because it seems like its a highly priced collectible at this point. Now I am returning to discuss a brand-new line for the famed fashion doll – The Extra editions. Take a look at the copy and images from Mattel resources.
The Press Release:
Each Barbie Extra doll rocks their own unique style that’s playful and over-the-top. Barbie Extra dolls offer an exciting fashion and styling play experience with posable, articulated bodies. When it comes to fashion, Barbie Extra has a “more is more” attitude- even their pets are oh-so EXTRA! The dolls embody everything fun: glitter, gummy bears, emojis, bright colors and iridescent shimmer — bringing EXTRA vibes wherever they go! Barbie Extra lets girls dial up their self-expression and fashion fantasy play by showing them anyone can be a trendsetter.
Barbie Extra Doll #1 GVR04:
* Afro puffs and braided hair details
* Wearing a rainbow fur coat and matching athleisure red top and shorts set, with glittered boots and real socks

Mattel has really been pulling out the stops for their world famous doll and have already received high praise for their “Star Wars” Barbie, “X-Men” Barbie and the David Bowie Barbie. I loved all of those myself but admit that I am still waiting on a Darth Vader Ken or at least a Boba Fett one before I dive into this side of the collectible market. Now it’s time to help share the announcement about the “Elton John Barbie”. Some specs follow the image below and then I’ll have a whole lot of Mattel supplied visuals. Enjoy.
Back in July we participated in the first ever Toy Insider “Sweet Suite at Home” which in a nutshell was a virtual version of their always awesome in-person happening. My overview of that can be found HERE in case you missed it. Now it was time to do their holiday event known as the “Holiday Of Play” which as expected was also going to be a virtual event. Since that other coverage worked I was going to repeat the process so into the web we go…
Here are the presenting exhibitors and I was going to try and say “hello” or visit as many of the virtual booths as possible. Now I should mention that some companies are present to ask questions while some have videos ready for you to watch with the means of sending messages to get more information post event.
